Your Maven

With any blogger, regardless of what they have to say, it’s important to know where they are coming from. Not all opinions are of equal value (ironically not a popular opinion, but still true!) and so you must always consider the source! So here is the part where I lay down my “credentials” XD

I am a 27-year-old female who has lived for various lengths of time in Washington D.C., Atlanta, Boston, New York, London and Germany (where I was an exchange student in high school). As of October 2010, I am a newly minted resident of the land of Beautiful People, Los Angeles. This is often hilarious, especially at the gym.

Among other things, I am also [an]: Anglophile, German-enthusiast, girl-nerd, feminist, realist and a dreamer (eNFj), Harry Potter fan, TV junkie, erstwhile bookworm and academic over-achiever, allergic to bullshit, politically moderate (which makes for funny view of the world and social issues), religiously secular (but you can see the Catholic/Episcopalian undertones of my upbringing), and a lifelong and current “fat kid.”

In my spare time, I am working on a novel, because that’s what you do nowadays (now that I’m in L.A., I need to start a screenplay…). Technically I’m working on three novels, because naturally one should always have a YA novel, chick lit novel and adult contemporary fiction novel going just in case a book agent finds your blog 😛 The only thing I’m not working on is a non-fiction work… but give it time. XD I’m working on a non-fiction proposal… that only took, what?, a week? XD

Professional & Education

I earned my bachelor of science from Boston University in 2006, majoring in Magazine Journalism with a minor in German Language and Literature. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the College of Communication.

During college, I managed the entertainment section of Boston University’s Daily Free Press, the Muse, for a period of two years. Completely out of order, I was first managing editor, then editor, then film editor and finally editor, again. I love to brainstorm (a wide variety) of content, manage teams, edit, layout and write.

I have worked for such publications as Variety, The Boston Herald, Food and Travel Magazine and The Daily Telegraph, in various positions, and admittedly on a largely internship basis. I have published clips from all but the Telegraph, where I was a lowly fashion intern.

As part of my Millennial/recession wanderings, my full-time positions have seen me working in finance for a publishing company, in volunteer management for an educational travel company and currently in marketing for television.
